THE Horse Camp Policies

THE HORSE CAMP POLICIES  

    1. Welcome to THE Horse Camp! Our goal is to Introduce each camper to the world of horses in a safe, fun, and exciting way! Along the way campers will develop many living skills such as leadership, communication, empathy, a work ethic, and much much more!
    2. Camp is located at Mountain Meadows Stables, 12100 Browns Canyon Rd, Chatsworth CA.  An authorized adult must sign all children in and out of the program each day. PLEASE DRIVE CAREFULLY ON THE 2 MILE MOUNTAIN ROAD!
    3. NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES will be issued unless the program is canceled
    4. Attendance in Extended Care for must be paid for and arranged in advance. Extended Care hours are from 7:30-8am and 3:30-6:00pm. To arrange extended care you must contact our office a minimum of 48 hours in advance. Please  text us at 818-675-7507 and inform us of the times you will need extended care. 
    5. All children not enrolled in extended care must be picked up no later than 3:30pm. A charge of $10.00 per 15 minutes late is due in cash upon picking up your child. If your child is in extended care, the late charge begins at 6:00pm. Pick up after 3:30 is from our riding Arena, Please park by the lower barn and walk up to the arena. 
    6. Camp activities begin sharply at 8:30am. Please plan on arriving to camp on time. Your child may miss their riding time if they are late. If you arrive after 8:30 am you will need to park by the barn/pool and walk your child up to our flag pole area and wait for assistance to be admitted into camp.
    7.  Regular hour Camp drop off and pick up will be done at the top of the hill at the entrance to Mountain Meadows Sables between 8-830am. PLEASE REMAIN WITH YOUR CAMPER IN THE CAR UNTIL YOUR CAMPERS HEALTH CHECK IS COMPLETED. NO WALK  UPS ALLOWED.
    8. Extended Care Drop off (prior to 8:00am) and pick up (after 3:30pm) will be done by our upper bleacher area. Please drive less than 10 mph around the bend to our parking area and walk your camper to the bleachers to check in with the staff. Pick up will be here as well. 
    9. In the event of an emergency or change of drop off/pick up situation, please follow posted signs
    10. All campers will be evaluated for their riding skills their first Monday of camp and will then be taught accordingly. 
    11. It is the parents’ responsibility to inform the Camp by 9:30am if your child is not going to attend camp on that day by texting (818)675-7507. There are no camp makeups for missed days HOWEVER we will offer a group make up riding lesson at a later date if requested for those that notify us prior to 7:30am that they will not be coming. Please keep your camper home if there are ANY signs of illness.
    12. Children with contagious illnesses will not be permitted in Camp. If a child becomes ill during our care they will be isolated and a call will be placed and arrangements must be made to pick up the child immediately. 
    13. Camp staff cannot administer any medication to your child. If your child must take medication during camp hours it must be sent in its original bottle with doctor’s directions attached and turned into staff at the time of check in. It will be locked in our first aid box. Staff will remind campers at the following hours ONLY to take their medication: 8:30am, 12:30pm, 4:00pm. Campers must be able to administer medication to him/herself. Please adjust medications at home to fit these hours, as we cannot deviate from them. (Asthmatic, diabetic, and epipen medications will be kept on the staff person or the camper at all times and used as needed.)
    14. No child will be accepted into our program until the appropriate paperwork has been returned to the camp at least 48 hours prior to the campers first start date.
    15. No refunds or exchanges of camp sessions, once registration is accepted, will be permitted. T.E.E. reserves the right to cancel the program at any time due to lack of registration or any other reason. If we cancel, a refund or compensation will be offered.
    16. Appropriate behavior from children is expected at all times. If a staff member finds that a child’s behavior is uncontrollable and harmful to himself, others, or the equines, staff will place a call to the parent to have the child picked up. ARRANGEMENTS MUST BE MADE AT THIS TIME for immediate pick up. 
    17. Campers must wear close-toed shoes at all times. Shoes with short heels and long pants must be worn. Campers without shoes with heels or long pants will not be permitted to ride. (Riding chaps are acceptable.) Campers must wear a hat at all times to protect them from the sun. Campers must bring a bag to camp daily with sunscreen and a refillable water bottle. If they do not have sunscreen or water it will be supplied at an additional fee.
    18. Please feel free to provide additional snacks as needed. Campers will have an opportunity mid morning  to eat their own snack. Campers are not allowed to share food.  A canteen box will be available for purchase for food and drinks for $1-$2. Cash only accepted. We cannot control what your camper purchases.
    19. Total Equestrian Experience carries Liability Insurance only. 
    20. The camp does not have a refrigerator for lunch or for medications. Therefore we suggest an individual cooler be brought for lunch and that all medications are in pill form. Lunch must be either  brought to camp daily or purchased by 830am. 
    21. While all safety precautions are taken, horse back riding is a high-risk activity. Parents will be informed of all  accidents or incidents that require more than basic first aid with accident notes or personal phone calls. In the event that your child is seriously injured or becomes ill in and during camp a call will be placed to the parent and all subsequent emergency numbers. If no authorized person can be contacted, emergency medical personnel will be called in if needed. All advice of emergency personnel will be followed including advice to transport to the nearest hospital.
    22. Radios, ipods, electronic games, weapons of any kind, alcohol and drugs, and other such items are not permitted in camp. TEE is not responsible for personal items brought to camp including saddles, helmets,  phones, jewelry, etc. All phones must be turned off and placed inside of bags and turned off until the end of the camp day. 
    23. Personal animals are not allowed at camp with the exception of pre-approved horses and pre-approved service dogs. If you wish to bring your own horse to camp please contact our director via email.
    24.  Follow our camp activities with pictures, stories, and news information by becoming a member of our virtual community at www.RideTEE.com and Total Eqyestrian Experience Facebook page!  News will also be on the sign in/out clipboard daily. By signing our camp registration form you agreed that your child’s image may be used for all purposes deemed necessary for Total Equestrian Experience and THE Horse Camp without compensation. You understand that names of minors will not be attached to any photos used for this purpose.
    25. Please see below for a supply list needed for camp and our Amazon suggestion list.
    26. Parents and families are invited each Friday at 1:30pm-3pm for a camper demonstration. Please drive carefully and less than 10 mph to our upper area and park in our lot. We will seat you at our bleachers.
    27. If you need to pick your camper up early at any time, please let us know ahead of time. When arriving to the ranch please wait in the car and your camper will be brought to you.

  • All Campers must have the following each day:

  • Lunch in a small cooler
  • A refillable water bottle (we have filtered refillable water)
  • A hat that shades their face 
  • Non-spray sunscreen 
  • Long pants for riding. We suggest leggings or riding pants. 
  • A boot with a 1 inch heel. 
  • A beach chair (low to the ground). Will be left at the ranch for the week.

Optional 

  • Helmet ( may be left for the week)
