I love horses, I would even say I love them more than people (shhhhh). I've been riding for about 11 years now and only for the last 3 have I been riding with TEE. I made the switch to TEE to further my dressage training, but also at that time I wanted to show in IEL (Interscholastic Equestrian Team). For those who don't know what IEL is its a show where you can rack up points for your school. Anywho, THE SHOW WAS IN TWO WEEKS TIME WHEN I FIRST STARTED! I had just switched trainers, horses, and well everything! You might think thats a recipe for disaster, but somehow everything pulled together and I learned more in those first weeks than any other time in my riding career. Everything I had only read about in dressage books and could only dream of doing became reality. At the time I had really struggled with the execution of dressage technique, I was very passive on the horse, and even though I was a good rider I was just a passenger. Gayle pushed me to the limit in those first weeks. The result may not have been picture perfect for that first show, but that first taste of "real dressage" is something that I don't think I will ever be able to quench. Sprite and I competed all the way through training level, and the beginnings of first level which is an incredible accomplishment for the both of us. Its hard to find a horse that loves dressage as much as Sprite does. Even though she's old, she's never dull. When I first started to ride her she made a point of throwing me off a few times just to show me how passive of a rider I was. She taught me how to take control, to be a leader. Now we are partners though, and together we are agile and powerful. I feel ready for war on that horse.
