Took a private lesson on Saturday with Gayle. We are working on cantering without her dragging me all over the place or just stopping. At Gayle's suggestion, we tried a dressage saddle, a milder bit, and a different girth... somehow the lesson was a whole lot better. Dreamer responded well to me, I felt much more comfortable in that saddle and my body was able to do what Gayle directed me to do.

With all the different variables we added to this lesson, I can't pinpoint exactly what created the more positive outcome, but now I have ordered all new tack for Dreamer just to cover everything.
Rinding curiotag:totalequestrianexperience.ning.com,2009-11-17:2615374:Topic:62652009-11-17T05:05:09.000ZGayle Papernohttp://totalequestrianexperience.ning.com/profile/GaylePaperno
Finally i have a pony again still going slow and working her back up to wat she was. Took her to a playday on sunday and she did great, but it showed me i need to work more with my leg on her and getting her to settle with it instead of fighting it. so alot more bending around the leg and moving off my .leg not running from my leg.

Took Suki out on trail for the first time since Emily has been gone. It was a great ride Suki did really well even though he was little bit sore at first. We had one spook on the way home but luckily Suki doesn't go very far! Hope all our trail rides go that well. Wish we could go out more often :[
Also in my Miki news: I cannot manage to keep that horse clean for the life of me! He got his last bath on Tuesday last week and now he looks dirty again. He acted really weird after the bath,…

Also in my Miki news: I cannot manage to keep that horse clean for the life of me! He got his last bath on Tuesday last week and now he looks dirty again. He acted really weird after the bath, almost like he was a five year old again. After a few reminders of how ground manners work he was better though. Today we worked on really using his inside hind leg. I asked him to continually stretch into the bridle and to carry himself by bending and the straightning continually. The we worked on our rythym both at the walk and the trot. From there we continued our work on the extended trot by going to the slowest collected trot - and moving breifly to the working then extended trot as a reward - all hte while staying and counting in rythym.
